Detachable Grip Chairlifts

Skiers love speed and resort owners and operators demand maximum reliability and minimum maintenance costs. Leitner - Poma of America Inc. has consistently been the leader in high speed aerial lifts.

Consider these facts:

  • When the Green Mountain Express was installed in 1990 at Sugarbush, Vermont, it was the first chairlift anywhere to operate at 1100 feet per minute [it now has logged over 8000 hours]
  • The Stowe eight-passenger gondola, installed in 1991, was the first gondola anywhere to operate at 1200 feet per minute, and it has now logged more than 10,000 hours.
  • Leitner - Poma of America Inc. now has eighteen chairlifts in North America which move 1100 feet per minute, six gondolas and eight DMC's which move 1200 feet per minute, and chairlifts at Mt. Hood Meadows and Angel Fire which move 1200 feet per minute!

How does Leitner - Poma of America Inc. continue to do it? We design for high speed before we turn it up.

Poma  designed the "T" grip to go considerably faster than the 1000 feet per minute which was the "new standard" in the early 1980's. This Leitner - Poma of America Inc. single position grip has a very low impact at the open/close function. The over center grips have a much higher impact which increases greatly with speed.

Leitner-Poma of America Inc. has also designed this line for high speed and comfort. Rubber-mounted sheave trains soften the ride, decrease overall vibration, and decrease maintenance — all this while providing your skiers with a faster and noticeably smoother ride.

Leitner - Poma of America Inc. has now supplied 54 lifts with rubber mounted sheave trains [including 18 gondola sections] since our initial set in 1988 at Breckenridge, Colorado.  For more information on Omega Detachable Chairlifts, click here.
