Three New Gondolas for Leitner-Poma in 2006

Grand Junction, Colorado [February 2007] — The most exciting aspect of 2006 was that we had 3 eight passenger gondola lifts with a total of 6 sections, including 3 complete angle stations (deviating the rope on both the uphill and downhill sides).

First there is the Transfer Gondola at Stowe, Vermont which connects the two base areas that have until now only been accessed by bus transfer. The resort and the skiers/boarders will be delighted to see the busses disappear. Stowe is building a new hotel this year and a new base lodge next year and the lift is nestled between these 2 huge structures and will surely be very busy.

Next comes the Snowmass, Colorado 2 section gondola. This lift originates in the new Aspen/Intrawest Base Village and is powered at the top by 2 X 600HP AC electric drives (930Kw). You may remember that in 2005 we installed a 2 section 6 place chair and a pulsed gondola in this same base area. Snowmass is totally rejuvenating itself and we at L-POA are excited to be able to play a part.

Then we have the Breckenridge, Colorado, a 3 section gondola which connects the large parking lot located in the downtown area with a real estate cluster at two base areas, Peak 7 and Peak 8. Again, all will be elated to see the busses dismissed from service. This lift is also an AC drive with 1000HP (775Kw). It opened 7 weeks ahead of schedule on December 31, 2006.

In addition, Leitner-Poma of America manufactured/installed 4 detachable chairlifts in 2006: Bear Valley, Calif.; Big White, BC, Canada; Blue Mountain, Pennsylvania, Crested Butte, Colorado. All totaling 29 million euros, and when we add 9 million euros of service and spare parts we had a very busy year for our team. All stations, sheave assemblies, towers, etc. are designed, manufactured and pre-assembled in our factory in Grand Junction, Colorado.
